Solid area rugs contrast perfectly when there is a lot of accessory décor in a room or when certain décor is desired to stand out. They spotlight any favorite accessories or accents around the room. These rugs can come in different textures, shades, and tones, sometimes with very subdued patterns, adding a hint of character without taking away from other accent pieces nor making an already busy room too busy. They are also great for open floor plans where they define an area of a room or where there are other already busier rug motifs they will not contend with.  Tonal solids allow for various shades of a color within a rug while other active solids allow for various shades along with multiple colors.
